Discover Bali: Island of the gods

The Indonesian island is a paradise where the gods once lived and assembled before leaving earth for humans to dominate (my thought though). All nature-elements are perfected in this island with the breathtaking landscape of hills and volcanic mountains, stunning reefs, enchanting beaches and beautiful rice terraces. The island is known for its intense spiritual and profound culture. The historical and archaeological attractions make it one of the best and world’s most popular island destinations.

Some cities and attraction sites to not leave out in Bali are:

1. Tanah Lot Temple. The temple is one of Bali’s landmarks, known for its beautiful offshore setting and sunset backdrops. An ancient Hindu shrine sits on top of an outcrop while smaller shrines surround the land. The temple is located in the Beraban village.

 

2. Uluwatu. This is home to the famous Uluwatu Beach and Uluwatu Temple. The stunning setting of Uluwatu Beach makes surfing irresistible coupled with the spectacular view of the ocean from the restaurants up the cliff. The Uluwatu Temple also known as Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of the six most important temples and one of the nine directional temples of Bali meant to protect it from evil spirits. The temple rests on the cliff over 70m over the ocean waves. Uluwatu Beach and Temple are located in Pecatu, Kuta South District.

 

3. Pura Gunung Lebah. “Pura” means Temple while “Gunung Lebah” means Small Hill. The temple radiating in traditional gold and red colors is set on a rock at the confluence of two rivers. Pura Gunung Lebah is one of Bali’s most unusual and dramatic temples believed to concentrate powerful earth energies. It’s a magical sight, quiet and peaceful, with the sounds of the rushing waters and admirable carvings. It is still known for purification rituals which include the bathing of temple relics and the sacred ashes of cremated people.

 

4. Kanto Lampo Waterfall. Her clean water is appealing and visitors are allowed to bathe in her. Interestingly, the waterfall is a new creation caused by a landslide in 2015. The landslide caused a great damage to the irrigation channel thereby creating a new tourist attraction. The pile of rocks which cause the water to fan as it cascades in various directions makes its situation among jungle trees and overhanging vines a spectacular sight.

 

5. Neka Art Museum. The museum is more than just a collection of fine art. The Museum is named after Sujeta Neka who started collecting paintings of high quality with the aim of establishing a fine arts museum in Bali. The museum showcases a great selection of works from many famous Balinese artists and expats who once lived there and influenced local artists. Each collection is inspired by the natural beauty, people and culture of Bali.
