Ubong, Faith and Bright comes everyday to Ibeno beach to play. Ubong is their big brother, while Faith (with the red shorts) and Bright (with the black shorts) are his younger siblings. This is their story:
“My name is Ubong and these are my brothers. I just finished my Secondary School education. Faith is in SS2 while Bright about to begin JSS1. Because we don’t have much money, I want to go to a Polytechnic close by. I want to study Civil Engineering there. Faith dreams of becoming an electrical engineer while Bright wants to be a mechanic. He wants to fix big lorries and air planes.”I love the beach so much. I come here everyday to have fun with my brothers.”
I loved these brothers when I met them. The way they enjoyed the waves with no care at all reminded me that sometimes, the beauty of life is in the simple things, like laughing and running around a beach, like having your family around and having a shoulder to lean on when need be.Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State.
